OverviewLast updated 2026-08-22

TRENCH: DECAY extraction is the win condition — reach the point alive, carry out fallen squadmates' dog tags, and move the shared war map. This page covers the loop without inventing timers or values.

Extraction in TRENCH: DECAY

Killing things is optional. Getting out is the mission. TRENCH: DECAY’s entire loop bends toward one moment — the extraction — and this page covers how that loop works, what the tutorial teaches you about it, and why every successful extraction echoes across the shared war.

01 / The Loop

Push. Survive. Extract.

The official description frames the game as a squad PvE push through WW1 trenches where your actions shape the battlefield, and independent coverage agrees on the goal: “the ultimate goal is to make it to the end alive.” Between you and that end sit the hazards the game is known for — barbed wire, gas, and relentless enemy waves.

Extraction is not a side objective bolted onto a shooter. It is the win condition. Weapons, crates and Medals exist to get your squad from the deployment trench to the extraction point in one piece. The loop is covered in the how to play guide and the squad setup in the squad co-op guide.

02 / First Contact

The tutorial ends at an extraction point

The game makes its priorities clear from minute one: coverage of the current build describes the tutorial ending with a race to the first extraction point. Before you have opened a single crate, the game has already taught you the skill that matters most.

Veteran tip from creator coverage: playing the intro rather than skipping it also hands you extra ammo and early medical supplies — a meaningfully better start for the push ahead.

03 / Leave No Tag Behind

Dog tags: when the squad does not all make it

Extraction in TRENCH: DECAY has a grim second layer. Independent coverage describes recovering the dog tags of your fallen friends and getting back out with them in hand. A downed squadmate is not simply a lost gun — their tags become something the survivors carry to the extraction point.

That design pairs with the game’s downed-state mechanics: the current build adds a sound cue when a teammate goes down, so you know to attempt a rescue before it becomes a recovery. Squads that stick together — see our co-op guide — extract more people and fewer tags.

04 / The Bigger War

Every extraction moves the front line

Per the official description, the war is shared: victories feed a live war map spanning all servers, and community-wide Major Orders (like the current push to retake Saint-Léon) are completed by squads succeeding on the ground. Your extraction is a community contribution, not just a personal win.

05 / Stack the Odds

Gear up before you deploy

The cheapest survivability boost is free loot: redeem the current promo codes for Medals and crates before deploying, and learn the full deployment loop in our How to Play guide. Better melee and firearm options mean more of your squad reaches the extraction point.

What is not documented (yet)

The developer has not published extraction timers, regional point values per extraction, map-by-map extraction locations, or failure penalties — and as an early-beta solo project these can change without notice. Rather than guess, this page covers only the verifiable loop and will be updated as the developer documents more via the official Discord and studio group.

Extraction FAQ

How do I extract in TRENCH: DECAY?+

You push through the trenches with your squad toward the extraction point and reach it alive. The game introduces this immediately: the tutorial ends with a race to the first extraction point, so your very first deployment teaches you the core loop — push, survive the hazards, extract.

What happens if a squadmate dies before extraction?+

Fallen squadmates leave dog tags behind. Independent coverage describes recovering the dog tags of fallen friends and making it back with them as part of the loop — so a death is not just a loss, it becomes a recovery objective for the rest of the squad.

Does extracting actually matter beyond my own run?+

Yes. Per the official game description, victories feed a live war map shared across all servers — a successful push and extraction moves the community front line. See our Live War Map guide for how that campaign layer works.

Is there a time limit or point value for extraction?+

The developer has not published exact extraction timers, point values, or distance mechanics, and the game is in early beta where these can change. We only list what is verifiable, so this page sticks to the qualitative loop and will be updated as the developer documents more.
